I really enjoyed the book, but there was one aspect of it that I just couldn't get behind. I really appreciated Katniss's strong character, but when it came to her understanding of love and even basic human relationships, it just didn't feel right. It was like she was emotionally retarded. Sure, she's supposed to be 16, but she seemed a little too unaware of her own emotions for that age. I really wanted to get into the whole Katniss / Peeta love story, but her ignorance of emotion really made it difficult. Again, I can understand that she's young and wasn't supposed to realize that Peeta fancied her for a while, but come on… it was pretty damn obvious about half way through.
